This will be my fourth year teaching at Galmpton Primary School. Having previously taught here in year 3, I now love teaching in year 1 and especially enjoy the teaching of phonics. Prior to completing my PGCE in Primary Education at the University of Exeter, I worked as an environmental instructor for children aged 4-18 years in North Norfolk and the Forest of Dean at various activity centres. I have also worked as a green energy advisor for EDF Energy, advising both home owners and businesses in everything from energy efficiency to renewable technologies. This follows on from completing an Environmental Science degree at the University of East Anglia.
In my spare time I enjoy getting out and about with my son and husband walking and exploring the beautiful Devon countryside, and also have recently been putting my DIY skills to the test in our whole house renovation.
I have had the pleasure of working at Galmpton Primary School for 9 years. The majority of these have been in Reception class. I have a passion for Child initiated learning and learning through play. What I love most about teaching is that you never know what the day will bring and that no two days are ever the same.
Before moving into teaching I graduated with a degree in Psychology and worked in London for LEAP (London Early Autism Project) which focussed on specific early interventions for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder. This has given me invaluable experience in teaching techniques and learning styles. I then completed a PGCE to enable me to begin my teaching career.
I have 2 children and feel very lucky that my family live in this beautiful part of the world. We often walk down to beach after school for an ice-cream!
