Community
Community is one of our trust values. We believe that our community enriches our learning and our character values. We also believe that we are called to serve our community and that a strong relationship with the community is mutually beneficial. We believe that the best learning takes place in a diverse community of people where everyone collaborates to live 'fuller lives' (John 10:10)
Our learning enquiries frequently involve the community and we actively seek many opportunities to work with our neighbours, our church friends, parents and carers, charities and local groups such as the National Trust and Three Corners residential home. You can find out more about how we develop children's' sense of community on our Personal development page under curriculum.
Below you'll find an example of some of the projects and opportunities that we've worked on with our community and our planned community projects for 24/25.
Community

Our School has its very own Community Champions who often meet up to think about how they can support member in our community.
Each half term several of these children go to the local nursing home to discuss their learning and colour in.
On the lead up to Christmas the children from one of the classes sing carols to them and make them cards.

Galmpton were very fortunate to have a visit from our local police officers to discuss how we could be strong member in our community. They talked to us about being safe in cars, on roads and how we can look our for others.

Every child in the school took part in First Aid training where they learnt how to support others when someone is not feeling well and how they can give help them when needed by giving CPR. It began by the children looking at the contents inside a First Aid kit, finding out if someone is breathing and then checking for a pulse. We put our knowledge to the test and used our teddies to practise putting someone into the recovery position!

As a school we welcome members from the local community and church to join us for our School Church Services. We had lots of lovely readings and prayers read by the children and it was enjoyed by everyone!

The reception class learned all about how we can protect our blue planet. They were fortunate enough to have a visit from 'The Seal Project' to discuss how we can protect our local seals.

Year One learnt all about Brixham and how the RNLI support the community. We thought about how we can give back to the community by supporting them more.

Each year our school team together with Christian Aid to help those across the globe who are less fortunate than us. We love to see how many boxes we can pull together as a community so that everyone can feel special at Christmas.

We are very proud of the work we have done with Greenway! The children have loved planting trees, developing their nature skills and spending time outside in the beautiful Greenway gardens. We were very excited when Greenway asked us to help them with their Christmas Carol Walk and Blossom Festival where each child in the school wrote down something they wanted to Blossom at this year.

As a school we love to help our own village community as much as we can. We make art for the village garden festival and support them with their annual Autumn festival.

Last year we had fifteen year 6's who completed their Torbay and Devon Civic Award. An award that requires a great deal of determination and independence. To achieve the award pupils have to participate in their school and home communities, adopt a cause or charity and make a pledge to the planet.

Mia successfully completed the 10k twilight walk 2025 or the brain tumour charity in London with her family. She raised £598!
