Welcome to Year 3

Class Teacher: Miss Rebecca Peace

Year 3 Spring 2 learning experience:

This half term, we are having an art focus in order to answer the question 'Which techniques do artists use to create self-portraits?' We will be exploring Van Gogh's work during this, gaining an understanding of the art techniques that he used to create portraits. We will be exploring colour, tone, texture, space and shape so that we can create a realistic self-portrait

Our gateway for learning this half term is expression. We will be writing our own poetry to express ourselves in an interesting way. We will be considering the effect that tone, rhythm and rhyme has on poetry. Furthermore, we will explore the use of repetition, similes and metaphors in order to achieve a particular effect on the audience.

This half term, our maths learning will be around length and perimeter. We will still be practicing our times tables so any additional practice with this at home either verbally or on times table rockstars would be brilliant

Weekly spellings are still being put on spelling shed so please make sure that your children are practicing when possible!

Year 3 are currently enjoying the story 'The Firework Marker's Daughter.' It is vital that your child is reading at home too, please make sure that they are reading their accelerated reading books and that they are in school each day.

This half term, year 3 are swimming. Please ensure that swimming kits are brought into school each Tuesday.
