I am absolutely delighted and feel truly privileged to be joining the wonderful team at Galmpton C of E Primary School as the new Year 2 teacher. With 14 years of teaching experience—most of it within Key Stage 1—I have developed a deep passion for nurturing young learners at this vital stage in their education. In my most recent role, I was both Assistant Head and Year 1/2 teacher at All Saints Thurlestone C of E. I’m really looking forward to getting to know the children and their families. I am also returning to the classroom after a year of adoption leave, and I feel incredibly excited to be starting this next chapter at Galmpton. In my spare time, I love going out on walks with my husband and our children, enjoying the outdoors together as a family.

I love my job and having been a teacher for 25 years, spending the last 7 years at Totnes St John’s Primary, I am very familiar with the ACE curriculum for Y2.
Through my teaching I aim to nurture children’s natural desire to find things out by providing learning opportunities that challenge, motivate and inspire. Questions are encouraged and children are guided and supported where needed to find the answers. I encourage the children in my class to take risks and help them to understand that we learn through trial and error.
I am constantly reviewing my own practice and believe that learning should be a journey for all!
Outside of school I enjoy spending time with my family. We love going for country walks with our dog, or down to the beach for a picnic, swim or surf.
