Mrs Carter
I am delighted to step into the role of Key Stage 2 lead at Galmpton school. Having spent 3 years teaching at Shaldon school, I have developed a deep understanding of the ACE curriculum and have experienced a range of opportunities to develop my teaching practise across Shaldon and other schools within the trust, sharing my knowledge with a range of teachers to support them in their journeys. I believe learning is at its best when children feel encouraged, valued and inspired to take risks. In the classroom, I focus on building confidence, independence and a genuine enjoyment of learning, helping children to develop both academically and personally.
Before teaching at Shaldon, I completed a degree in Education Studies through The Open University full time, whilst working as a full-time teaching assistant. This allowed me to develop great experience in working with children who have additional needs. Following that, I completed my PGCE in Primary Education with Devon Primary SCITT, teaching in Year 2 and Year 6.
Outside of school, you will find me playing clarinet and saxophone in a concert band, going for walks with my family and spending time in the countryside (when it’s not too cold).
